Run the 30-Second AI Visibility Diagnostic First
Start here — 30 seconds
Answer these three. Count your yes’s.
1Open ChatGPT right now. Search “best [your trade] in [your city].” Does your business appear in the answer?
2Is your Bing Places listing claimed, current, and complete? (Yes, Bing. ChatGPT pulls from it, not Google.)
3Did you get at least one new Google review per week last month? (Recency outweighs total count for AI ranking.)
0 yes: start at Level 1. | 1–2 yes: Level 2. | All 3 yes: Level 3.
Pick your level. Start there.
Level 1 — Starter
Show up at all. Fix the foundation this week.
2–3 hours total. Anyone on your team. No paid tools.
1Claim and fully fill your Bing Places listing. ChatGPT pulls from Bing, not Google. Most home services contractors are unclaimed or out-of-date there. Hours, photos, services, phone, website — fill all of it. This is the single highest-leverage move in the entire audit.
2NAP audit across every listing. Pull your name, address, and phone from Google Business Profile, Yelp, Angi, BBB, Thumbtack, and your website. Every cell must match character-for-character. AI engines skip businesses with ambiguous data — “Suite 100” vs nothing is the kind of small inconsistency that costs you the recommendation.
3Turn on automated post-job review requests in your FSM. Jobber, ServiceTitan, and Housecall Pro all support it natively. Target one new review per week minimum. Recency is the #1 signal AI engines use — 50 reviews from this year outrank 200 from three years ago.
Level 2 — Intermediate
Build the signals that compound.
1 day setup + ongoing cadence. Marketing person or agency.
1Add LocalBusiness schema to your homepage and top 5 service pages. Machine-readable business data (name, address, hours, services, geo) reduces the ambiguity that makes AI skip you. A developer can implement it in an afternoon.
2Build five Q&A pages — one per service line. Question as the title; direct, complete answer in the first paragraph. 44% of AI citations come from the first paragraph of cited content (Position Digital 2026). The SEO instinct to bury the answer in paragraph four is the AI instinct that gets you skipped.
3Split review requests between Google and Yelp. Google reviews feed Gemini and AI Overviews; Yelp feeds ChatGPT. Single-platform velocity leaves half the AI surface uncovered.
Level 3 — Advanced
Measure share of voice. Build the moat.
1 week setup + 2–3 hours/month. Marketing ops or fractional CMO.
1Add an “AI Visibility” line to your monthly marketing report. Track share of voice across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity for your top 10 service queries. If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it — or justify Q3 investment in it.
2Build an Answer Library — 20+ deep pages by service line, distributed externally. Don’t only publish on your own site; pitch lightly-reworked versions to trade publications and local news. External distribution can lift AI citations by up to 325% vs hosting only on your own domain.
3Run a quarterly competitive AI audit. Search your top 3 competitors against your core service + city queries across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Track who appears and what sources AI cites — the gaps in their presence are your opportunities.
Do this today

From the team at DUO
AI search visibility is the channel most home services companies don’t have anyone owning. We’ve been running AI-visibility audits for clients since the channel got measurable — the Bing Places fix alone usually moves the needle in 30 days. If you’d rather we run yours than DIY, we will: the same diagnostic, the same tier placement, plus a gap analysis against your two closest competitors.
